All Eyes On Korea @ Southbank Centre

There is a number of events taking place as part of this festival. The ones I’d like to see are GongMyoung presents ‘Walkabout’ (Jul 28, Sat) and Korean Music Ensemble ‘Baramgot’ (Jul 29, Sun), both in Purcell Room.

GongMyoung means ‘resonance’, and is a quartet that presents traditional Korean music with a contemporary twist. Baramgot return to Southbank Centre led by Won Il, bringing a fresh approach to the mystical and dynamic sounds of Korea.

I probably should have checked both on youtube first, but I’ll let myself to be surprised. I’ve been to Korea and admire this country’s culture, plus traditional Asian music never disappoints, so it should be good. Tickets are surprisingly not expensive- from £5 to £10.

I’ve been to Southbank Centre many times before, Ping Pong there is brilliant for dim sum and atmosphere, so could head there before the event. They are doing an exclusive offer for Amex Cardmembers at the moment (Jul 1 – Aug 31), dim sum taster menu for two for £36- sounds good! Of course, we could always go for their traditional £9.99 set menu+ drinks (ahh, Ping Pong’s cocktails!).

Total budget £46-56+ transport. The only question is- who wants to join me!!? 🙂  Let me know!
