I was in Vilnius, and then Iceland when this idea came to me- how great it could be if one could easily find alternative, unusual tours of the city s/he was visiting. It is especially true when you are either visiting for only a couple of days, or are in the city for the first time, or have been before but alone this time, or you are not alone, but no one shares your interests. And not all of us are great at spontaneously meeting new people and not obsessing about safety.
When I was in Iceland, I found a small tour company with unusual tours- a private party with a DJ, a dinner at a country home, a fishing trip, but no one responded to email or phone and it seemed like they were not in business. Then when I came to live to London (5 years ago, time flies!), I kept searching for interesting tours but kept finding same standard sightseeing options, so I had to explore myself and mostly alone. In Vilnius, first on business, then for leisure, I was touring the city alone thinking how much more fun it would have been doing it with someone who shared my interests.
Shared interests is the key- hence this blog. I am bored of doing fun stuff and discovering this great city alone, so I will publish here what interesting stuff I find and if you are in London, stuck alone in the hotel after long day of business meetings and/or want to do something off the beaten track and share my interests or believe I will share yours (which is key)- do get in touch, and let’s go!
Couple of things right away. I am married and in my 30s, so I am not looking for that sort of fun 🙂 I am not an escort. I am obsessed with personal safety- see above- mine and yours. I am not a professional tour guide, don’t have an encyclopaedic memory and don’t know Lonely Planet London by heart. At this stage I just want to meet like minded people to explore interesting things this great city has to offer. Let’s see how it goes, and thanks for reading!
